I blame Julia Roberts….

Eat. Pray. Love. And the reason I blame Julia Roberts

(This post contains affiliate links)

I have watched the movie Eat Pray Love a few times now. Each time the movie ends, I want to quit my job, sale all my earthly belongings and fly off to Italy.  Eat Pray Love is by far my favorite Julia Roberts movie. The way her character in a sense reminds me of myself. The writer who is stuck in her own life, unsure of who she is anymore, just knowing that something needed to change inside of her. Her passion for life, for food, was gone. She needed to ‘jolt’ herself back into living. I can connect to that emotion. A knowing that something bigger is out there.

A few years back I remember watching Eat Pray Love. I had just purchased my truck a few months before that. As the movie was ending I clearly  remember thinking; ” I’ll pay my truck down, sale it and go travel.” This is why I blame Julia Roberts. 😉 The thought to leave Alaska had entered my head before. The thought of traveling Europe? Nope. I  believe after watching Eat Pray Love, it sparked the fire in my soul to want to go travel.

The mature, responsible side of me, also the I need money side of me, knows that this is not possible. Not without time, planning, and saving. So for now, I will continue to dream of Italy, Paris, Ireland, London and where ever else my wanderlust soul takes me. Knowing that a year from now, I will be landing in my first foreign country.

If you haven’t seen Eat Pray Love the movie, here is the official trailer.  And if it tickles your movie watching fancy you can buy a copy here.  If you are anything like me, even just watching the trailer will set fire to your soul. Or, If you prefer to read, you can order the book, Eat Pray Love here.

Also be sure to check out my Facebook page. I am giving away a $25.00 Amazon gift card until Oct 31st!

Question for the week- What movie makes you want to pack it all up and just go? Be sure to let me know in the comments down below 🙂

Namaste.

You know, I’m not a fan of Julia Roberts, so I never saw this movie because the book was a life-changer for me – I didn’t want to spoil my experience! 🙂 But I get it. There’s a part in the book that was the “come to realization” moment for the author…I loved experiencing that right along with her.

What movie makes me want to pack it in and travel? Hmm… Oh! Paper Towns. I LOVED that movie. I loved Margo’s relationship with Quentin and how she “leaves him clues to find her.” But what she does – packing it up and starting over somewhere undefined – YES!

As normal, I saw the movie first and then found out that there was a book first. I understand what you mean though. There are a few books I have read that were turned into movies and I was afraid it would ruin the book for me.
I will add Paper Towns to my next Amazon order 😉
